Landowners attempting to recover from recent wildfires can no longer rely on state grants.  Last week the Legislative Appropriations Committee slashed the funds from the Governor’s proposed supplemental budget from $130m to $100m, also changing the funds from grants to a 2% loan.

Against this setback, Governor Gordon hosted a community forum in Sheridan on January 27th, 2025 alongside Bob Budd, Executive Director of the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resources Trust (WWNRT) and Jennifer Doering from State Land Investment Board.
This forum was one of three hosted in Sheridan, Gillette and Wheatland.

Key discussion points included:
– Grant vs Loan Program
– Invasive Species Management
– Emergency Funding
– Restoration & Resilience
– Mitigation Initiatives
– Federal & State Collaboration
