Much of Buffalo’s Main Street’s existing road surface from north to south is in poor condition and needs replacing.
HOW LONG?
This is a two-year pavement/preservation project over construction seasons 2024-2025.
WHERE?
From mile marker 298.02 to mile marker 301.34. See map for details.
BUFFALO DOWNTOWN MAIN ST work will take place summer 2025.
IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE:
- Repaving
- ADA ramp improvements at intersections
- Minor bridge repairs to Clear Creek bridge
- Replacement of Cemetery Creek culvert
- Upgraded traffic signal at Hart St.
ESTIMATED COST: $11M
SATELLITE PROJECTS:
For cost efficiency, an agreement with Johnson County Road and Bridge has been added to this project for
- ROCK CREEK ROAD mill & overlay roadway 1-90 Interchange to 200 ft north of Rock Creek Bridge (0.65 miles)
- NORTH BYPASS mill & overlay (0.61 miles)
- SOUTH BYPASS mill & overlay (1.95 miles)
+ some reconstruction in areas of settlement damage.
CITY OF BUFFALO will utilize city dollars for
- HART ST TO FORT ST water main upgrade
- TRAIL TO HOLLAND ST replace storm sewer
CITY OF BUFFALO will use Context Sensitive Amenities (CSA) funds to
- DOWNTOWN AREA replace street lighting
