Long Term Homeowners Property Tax
Program Explained
Oct 2024

Property taxes remain high, and there is no doubt that the legislature will once again try to provide widespread relief for homeowners at the next session in 2025.  In the meantime, the Long Term Homeowners Property Tax Program eases the burden for Wyoming homeowners over 65.

Designed to support long-time residents, this program offers a 50% reduction for eligible homeowners, helping reduce the impact of rising property values and taxes.  County Assessor Steve Esponda explains how the program works, who is eligible, and how to apply before the May 2025 deadline.

While on property tax, Steve Esponda commented on ballot proposition Amendment A and encouraged voters to support it. This proposition on the General Election ballot would separate residential property into its own class, allowing the legislature to designate a separate tax rate for homeowners.
