Screen Time Struggles?
‘Screenagers’
Jan 2025
Are you concerned about your child’s screen time?
If you’ve ever felt uncertain about managing your child’s digital device use or worried about the influence of technology on their well-being, you are not alone.
Many parents share these concerns, and so do JCSD#1’s school counselors. They see firsthand how screen time can affect students’ social skills and mental health. Issues like increased anxiety, online bullying, poor self-esteem, and poor executive functioning are becoming more common. Perhaps most concerning is the impact on real-world friendships and the ability to build meaningful connections.
To help parents address these challenges, JCSD#1 is hosting free screenings of ‘Screenagers’ —
a documentary that explores the impact of screen time on children and offers practical tools for healthy device use.
Listen to JCSD#1 counselors, Julie Heil, Heather Haas, Rileigh Olsen, Jen Skaggs, Michelle Dahlberg, and Kassahn Mathson explain more about ‘Screenagers’ and their concerns for student’s development and well-being.
