Big Decisions at JCSD#1
June 24, 2025

Summer is anything but relaxing for JCSD#1 leadership.  From choosing Buffalo High School’s next principal to navigating new state laws on concealed-carry and cell-phones, Superintendent Charles Auzqui is steering Johnson County School District #1 through a season of big decisions.

He reflects on the search for a new principal at Buffalo High School, and why two home-grown candidates rose to the top, and what is likely to come next for the Athletics Director position.

Making ends meet is an increasing challenge for educators across Wyoming.  JCDS#1 leadership is keeping a keen eye what is happening at the state level during the ‘recalibration’ process, and whether public education will receive the funding necessary for success.

Next week, new legislation allows for concealed carry of firearms in schools and other public buildings.  This law marks a significant shift in how firearms are regulated in public spaces across Wyoming. How is JCSD#1 responding?

Note:  JCSD#1 Board of Trustees meets for a special meeting on Wed 25th June at 6:00 pm to appoint the new Buffalo High School principal.
