‘Safe Grounds’ Active Shooter Response
Sheriff Odenbach & Police Chief Bissett
April 2024
Active shooter drills are a contentious topic. We all have an idea about how we would like to react should we find ourselves amid an active shooting, but often at the moment itself how a person responds is entirely different.
In the second part of 307NetInfo’s follow-up on recent active shooter training hosted by JCSD#1, Sheriff Odenbach and Police Chief Bissett reflect on the training, and what would happen should they be faced with responding to an active shooter incident in Johnson County.
What did they get from the program? Has local protocol changed as a result? Is there a place for arming teachers? What should parents do? What comes next?
